A Custom Guitar Strap: Your Most Important Accessory
If you’re serious about playing the guitar (and if you’re reading this, you probably are!), then you’re serious about getting the right accessories for it. That means everything from the pick you use to distortion pedals to capos. And, for serious guitarists, there’s no accessory more important than the guitar strap. Given its importance, more and more musicians are not satisfied with the “off-the-rack” options they see in music stores and are turning to custom guitar straps. If you’re thinking about such a purchase, there are several things you need to consider before you make your final decision. Here are some of the most important.
Think about Width
The width of your guitar strap is an important consideration, not only for reasons of comfort when playing long sessions, but also because of visual appeal on stage. The straps available to you in music stores are pretty standard, usually varying from 2 to 4 inches in width.
It’s all in the Design
Chances are you’re going to want to personalize your guitar strap by printing it with a design. Again, store shelves will limit your choices, but when you customize, the sky’s the limit. You can choose the lettering you want (for example, your name or the name of your band, or even the lyrics to a favorite song), or you can add personalized designs, anything from prized photos to cartoons to geometrical figures. The important thing about the design of your strap is that it be meaningful in some way, both to you and to your audience.
